Now, personally, I'm not a fan of rhythm games. Guitar Hero, Rock Band, not my thing, I prefer FPS and some RPGs, but not those. However, a lot of my friends do so I hear about them fairly often. I know that even if you don't buy the newest version, it's songs are still compatible with your older version, and vice versa. However, an Activision representative told Destructoid that DLC for the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 will not be compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour.
According to the Activision rep, Guitar Hero 5 DLC will be compatible with future titles in the franchise, but changes in how the music is formatted caused the upcoming game's music not to work on World Tour. Fortunately for you Guitar Hero fans, Activision has assured us that tracks from Guitar Hero: World Tour will be compatible with Guitar Hero 5 using a built-in importing system -- which adds new features such as band moments, expert+ drumming and the new vocal star power to older tracks.
